First to answer some questions from Dad that he asked about productivity in the Morning and Afternoon, and how we´re working:
To be productive in the morning and early afternoon hours, whenever we talk with people, we always try and schedule a lesson with them in the morning or in the afternoon, for exactly that reason. Really, the only days that we have to worry a lot about that is Wednesday and Friday, because Monday is Pday, Tuesday is District Meeting until lunch, and Thursday is Weekly Planning (which we all go to the stake center to do) until lunch.
We are doing a lot of tracting right now, but we´re also trying to coordinate better with the members to have family home evenings in their house. This week, I´m going to explain the family council to my companion, Elder Bravo, so that we can implement it in what we´re doing. Another thing that I found really helps is the video of "I´ll go where you want me to go" that they showed in the Leadership Training in July. It shows to me really clearly the way that the Lord wants missionary work to function- and it also shows that we as missionaries are here to help- and we can help with the problems we have.
So we still don´t have references, but we´re working on it. We have a Family Home Evening planned tonight with one of the member´s that´s my good friend from the Office (he works in reparation of chapels), and tomorrow a family home evening WITH an investigador. Whoo-hoo!
I do have a really big testimony of Member-missionary work. Claudia, who was baptized two weeks ago in my old area, has a super strong testimony, and part of the reason why is because her friend from college invited her again and again and again to church and to talk more with us. Claudia actually brought one of her friends, Wini, to an activity, who just happened to live in my new area. Isn´t the Lord so great? I love the ways that he helps in this work.
And this week, we had two baptisms! They´re sisters, who have 13 and 8 years old, and they are really well integrated in the ward, and they are so happy in the church. They feel the love of God there, and they feel really good there. Their brother also really wants to get baptized in two weeks, and we´re also teaching their Mom. It is so great to be a part of this church, and helping people to make eternal covenants with them.
We´re also trying to help a Mom get married with her husband, so they can get baptized. She has 3 little kids, that are 2-6, who are adorable. She lives a very simple life, and can´t read, but she loves how she feels in church, and how she feels when we come. It´s different teaching her, and we´re trying to help her gain a testimony of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. I´m considering buying CDs for her to listen to.
I´m super super excited for Conference this upcoming week. I love inviting people to come and listen to the Prophet´s voice. What other time of the year cna we invite people to do that? "We have a living prophet and you can listen to him this week. Come and listen!" I´m preparing a list of questions I have that I need answered, like how we can help belief lead to faith, and how faith leads to repentance. Also about the "why" of the Apostacy- helping understand better Why God didn´t continue calling more apostles or prophets. I know the why- because they had rejected him, but I want a deeper testimony of that. I encourage you to do the same- write down questions that you have that you want to know, and watch them be answered by the Spirit and by the servants of the Lord.
Thank you very much for your love, and for your sincere prayers for me. I can feel them from here.
