I had a good talk with Ivar Schoenmeyr this morning. Ivar led the team that built Cyberrider for the 2004 and 2005 races. For 2007, he merged into the UBC team, lending us equipment, and making frequent trips from south California to Vancouver. Ivar is one of the three other people with whom I started Cogneta Inc. in 2007 to commercialize autonomous vehicle technology. Ivar owns a successful pump company that exports more to China than they import. His company can build custom small electric motors in-house.

I walked Ivar though the Elcano system, and he wants to buy a board. He is interested in helping us out.

Ivar described a project he had a high school do to track the sun. It is a simple system that computes orientation based on the time and position of the sun. It is more robust than fancy systems that can get interference from power wires. Ivar will make the code available to us.

BTW, Ivar's daughter is a freshman at UW. He will be in Seattle in two weeks, but I'll be out of town.

That's awesome Tyler. I propose that we have a group chat on how we can strategically put all the pieces together including the partnerships with Ivar's company and Action Controls to make autonomous technology readily available for the public.

Best wishes,
