Hi everyone,

Pastor John Embree at Hope Lutheran in Temecula contacted me last night
and they're willing to host Bishop Moyo. We'll need to confirm times,
food (if any), and other details with them.

Jessica, are you the correct person to coordinate with the bishop's
schedule? I suspect an evening event would give us the largest
potential audience but want to make sure that works with him. If you're
not the right person, do you know who I should contact?

Also, do you have any information on who we might contact to get a brief
summary of what his talk will cover and roughly how long it will be?
Those details will be important for the press release.

Leah and Nancy, I think we should coordinate with the synod office as
well. I'm going to send Helga a heads-up e-mail.

Thanks,
Jeff

This is wonderful news!

Yes, I am happy to work with you to coordinate the bishop's schedule. I just now heard that he will be speaking with students at Ascension Lutheran School in Thousand Oaks on Monday morning, so an evening event in Temecula would be perfect.
We can set the tone and topic for the talk. The content I was thinking of would be a description of the "landscape of malaria" in the Southern Africa region -- in its political and economic context-- and I'd ask him to tell some personal stories of how malaria affects lives and how ELCA Malaria Campaign-funded programs are changing lives. I think some time for Q and A would be important, too. (I'm very open to changing that agenda around to fit your needs and interests!)

Do you have a time frame that you prefer? I think we can go ahead and make that decision based on the venue and what might work best for the participants.

Peace,
Jessica

Great!  I like that idea for his talk. Let me check back with the church, but I was thinking 7pm might be a good time to start, to give people time to get there after work.
