SimpleElastix - current state of development

Hello.

I'm an active user of SimpleElastix library and appreciate all the effort and work the whole team puts into the development.

It seems to me that the project is not in active development, based on the time of the last commit, which was on the develop branch mid July 2021. Are there any plans to keep track with the more recent Elastix and SimpleITK releases? I see that the latest Elastix commit for SuperBuild's external Elastix is almost 1 year old.

Hi Martin,

We're currently working on a merge between SimpleITK and SimpleElastix.

This would mean that SimpleElastix will be merged into SimpleITK and will, from then onwards, automatically stay up-to-date with SimpleITK.

The merge will also be compatible with the latest Elastix release.

In case you're using SimpleElastix for python, you could also consider switching to ITKElastix which is build with the latest Elastix release and has more active development.

If not, I would say it would take a month or 2 more before SimpleElastix is merged into SimpleITK.
