Performance Issue

We encounter a very strange performance issue in production. 

 

The behavior of the application is sometimes very different while the same search request is made by the same user on our web application. A given user can make few search requests that are responsive, then a request that results in a time-out.

 

In the “normal” case, 10 queries are made on Elasticsearch (actually, 2 by node). In the “strange” case, more than 1,200 queries are made on Elasticsearch. These 1,200 queries are spread over approximately 10 minutes.

I did not find any known bug related to that use-case.
