Hi,

Is it possible to use ceph / librados as storage instead of swift ?

i think it's going to be faster too if using librados directly. java binding for librados in here https://github.com/wido/rados-java

but i don't speak java, although i am a javanese :D just my 2 cents

thanks,

Hi Sayid,

You can use Ceph via RADOS Gateway. RGW provide S3 and Swift compatible APIs: http://ceph.com/docs/master/radosgw/

Currently, ElasticInbox does not support librados directly. We haven't done extensive research, but it looks like librados will require additional logic (e.g. splitting large blobs into blocks, etc.).

There's definitely performance benefit, but it will be hard to write and maintain drivers for every new storage system out there.
