Team,

I have recently migrated the keyspace from Elassandra 5.5.0.34 to Elassandra 6.8.4.7 .
After migrating data over to the newer elassandra version and we did creation of indices on 3 tables on a keyspace. We do have text fields as well as UDT for indexing.
Indices got created without any issues and searches works as expected.
But we observed below error(s) in the system.log files.

ERROR: ExtendedElasticSecondaryIndex.java:73 newIndex Failed to instanciate org.ellasandra.index.ElasticSecondaryIndex, using a dummy secondary index.

Is there any  specific reason for this error.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Jithin

Team,

Adding more observations.

I was able to replicate this issue by recreating the index on search node.

We have 3 data centre's one write, search and analytics with elassandra instances installed.
But only search nodes are Elasticsearch enabled.
Created the index on one of the search nodes and observed the system logs of all the nodes.

I could confirm that this error was observed only on non-ElasticSearch-enabled nodes.
ERROR: ExtendedElasticSecondaryIndex.java:73 newIndex Failed to instanciate org.ellasandra.index.ElasticSecondaryIndex, using a dummy secondary index.

In search node I could see info relating to index creation and indices got created without any issues.

Any info regarding this error and these observations would be of great help.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Jithin
