Ok,

As an introduction, I am Callek, also named here in the world of us
Players, as Justin. I will be spearheading the "Secrets" Policy as it
regards to Elanthipedia.

First and foremost I fully believe secrets should be viable and
integral to the potential wealth of information we can, and should,
present on Elanthipedia, while I am hoping to also be able to cater to
those who would rather NOT be spoiled by quests, or information, while
fully recognizing these people need help sometimes.

I will address this on the list, to hear general thoughts, concerns,
and otherwise before I even begin the formal draft of the policy,
which is a bit contrary to my initial concept of what to do, but I
feel this will be best.

There are several topics of conversation, I will run them all in
separate threads (so please reply there with your specific concerns,
you may reply here for any I don't address, which can then be spread
to separate threads if need be), the separate threads will be done so
ease of reading, and easier coherence of the ideas presented.

* Should Elanthipedia even house *any* Secrets?
* What *is* a Secret as it relates to the coming policy (as in,
whats secret, and what is not)?
* How do we keep a separation of information for those who don't
want to see secrets?
* * ...and even for the editors?
* How to handle the presentation of secrets? (eg as "outright
solutions" for quests, or "hints on how to complete" a quest)
* other things? (I feel I may be missing some)

So with my summary complete, let me attempt to articulate some of
those other points in different threads.

Thanks in advance for your opinions,
~Justin Wood (Callek)

Is there going to be a distinction between "secrets" and "mechanics
abuse." I believe it is good to have the secrets available in some
form, but the line should be drawn at mechanics abuse.

If I understand you right, you're asking whether bug exploits or
mechanics abuse techniques should be described in the Elanthipedia.

I would vote a strong NO to that. Apart from it being just plain
wrong to help people undermine the integrity DR, I can't think of
anything we could do that would attract more negative attention from
Simu.

Heh and honestly, I'm liable to wield the ban stick if I see someone
adding exploits.

Tis the redhead in me.

agreed, though in my case its not because I'm a redhead (I'm not)
