The following Wiki extensions have been suggested, (and details about
each along with them)
* SpamBlackList -- [1] Helps prevent link-spam on wiki's
** Installed, though we seem to be missing a local-site spamblacklist itself [2]
** I recommend using the "meta" one (url'ed) as well as a local one,
so we can add "our own" blacklisted stuff to it, if we find we are
getting DR/Simu specific types of link spam. (possible)
* ParserFunctions -- [3] Allows conditional expresions for template use
** Installed, though we should explain this on elanthipedia somehow
(even the parserfunctions page has trouble doing it well)
* Newuserlog -- [4] Allows a log of new users to be created, and also
shown in Recent Changes.
** Installed, great
* Cite -- [5] Allows easy citation of references and other concepts
for where a particular fact came from.
** Problems Installing, why? (was [6] read?)
** Note, I don't think we need or want the Special Page Extension (if
you skim [7] you'll see why)
And lastly
* CategoryTree -- [8] Allows AJAXy display of Categories and
SubCategories, which is useful the way Elanthipedia seems to be being
set up.
** No information presented on if this was tried, or thought about.

"While the generated link can be excluded with «#ifexist:», the
reference still appears in the output of a <reference />."
and To copy an IRC chat:
<Callek> Pathoschild: don't suppose you know anything about Cite and
ParserFunctions compat?
<Pathoschild> Callek: Not much.
<Pathoschild> Callek: I suspect the incompatibility is related to bug
2257: Template parameters unavailable to parser hooks (
http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2257 )
<Callek> *but* it does "work" together
<Callek> just can't use cite functions with parserfunctions basically??
* Pathoschild tests.
<Pathoschild> ParserFunctions work well in <ref>, but <ref> doesn't
work well in ParserFunctions.
<Pathoschild> For example, "{{#ifeq:1|2|<ref>true</ref>|false}}" will
add "true" to the references section even if the result is false.
<Callek> but both should be installable at once :-)
<Pathoschild> Yep.
* Pathoschild disambiguates the page.

I will do that later tonight when traffic is much lighter.
Great, though I'd settle for a description of what is broken.

No rush, I won't be able to test/check until at the earliest tomorrow
night anyway.
