Wedidn't think it was possible, but Mystic Falls is about to get a lot more magical when The Vampire DiariesandThe Originalsspin-off Legacies premieres. TV Guide's exclusive first look at this new series will have you saying, "Screw that Hogwarts letter, where's my acceptance to The Salvatore School?"
Legacies follows the story of Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) and her classmates at Alaric Saltzman's (Matt Davis) school for supernatural children, and like he says in the trailer, that covers a lot of territory. Witches, werewolves and vampires make up the student body at this boarding school masquerading as a prep school for troubled rich kids, but they aren't the only creatures stalking the woods of Mystic Falls. Showrunner Julie Plec has teased that new monsters will be introduced in this series, and our minds are already racing at the possibilities.
Legacies won't take itself too seriously though, and we're sure to get some of that good ol' high school drama woven into the plot each week too. In fact, we're getting some serious Buffy the Vampire Slayervibes, as this series weaves the dark yet whimsical supernatural goings-on of the town into the everyday life of its teenage inhabitants, from setting your ex on fire to sister witches crushing on the same werewolf hottie.
Remaking Fright Night, Todd Holland's still-entertaining 1985 teen vampire horror/comedy, seemed like a dire prospect. But then Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) came on to direct a script by Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) with Colin Farrell starring as the vampire who moves in next door to Charley Brewster, a high school student played by Anton Yelchin. OK, so far so good. The script is pretty solid, and adds enough things to differentiate it from the original that this isn't at all a 100% straight remake.
Now the first trailer is out, and you'll see how different some aspects of this version really are. While Chris Sarandon was perfect for the vampire role in the original, I'm happy to see that Colin Farrell's version might be just as intense as intended in the script. I've moved past all the reservations I had about remaking Fright Night (because there's nothing I can do about it) and while I'm not feeling mad excitement at the prospect of this version, I like the cast enough that I'm willing to give it a chance.
The trailer shows a good bit of Toni Collette as Charley's mom, and of Imogen Poots as his new girlfriend. You'll see a little bit here of Christipher Mintz-Plasse as Evil Ed, Charley's best friend (or slightly estranged best friend in this version) but sadly almost nothing at all of David Tennant as a Criss Angel-like stage magician whose true nature is slightly different than it first appears to be. And before you worry that too much is given away here, keep in mind that the trailer is largely cut from first-act material, so it isn't nearly as revealing as it might seem.
This week the penultimate episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 arrives and it is something different indeed. We have details along with new images, a trailer, and a clip from the musical episode. SPOILERS.
The latest episode of The Ready Room, the official Star Trek aftershow, includes a clip from the musical episode. Uhura and Spock are in engineering testing a new way to send messages in subspace, Pelia walks by and suggests they try sending music. (The clip starts at 32:50.)
Apple Music actually had a preview list of all the songs a few days ago. Someone on Reddit linked it there. It was about 10 songs so there are many. I have to say they actually sounded pretty good. Even the title credits will have a different score with people singing (they are getting really creative with those credits this season).
Wont be watching this episode. Last season it was the fairy tale episode. Now this. Im sorry but shows like Buffy The vampire Slayer did it and went downhill since. Pass on this one. Whomever gave the greenlight to this idea should get a pay cut.
A new trailer offers a closer look at Abigail. The upcoming movie is the latest horror offering from the filmmaking collective known as Radio Silence, which includes directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett as well as producer Chad Villella and is known for movies such as Ready or Not, Scream (2022), and Scream VI. Loosely inspired by 1936's Dracula's Daughter, the movie follows a group of people who are holding a kidnapped little girl hostage, only to realize that they are caught in a trap as she reveals that she is a bloodthirsty vampire.
The trailer opens on a quiet scene where Abigail (Alisha Weir) is in a cage, seemingly trapped by the kidnappers, but the balance of power quickly reverses when Joey (Melissa Barrera) asks which of them is actually in a cage and Abigail bursts open the metal door to go on the attack. The rest of the trailer sees the crew scrambling to find ways to defeat a vampire, with crucifixes absolutely failing to do the trick.
While the latest trailer for the new Melissa Barrera horror movie is just over a minute long, it is packed with details that may reveal hidden plot elements. While it is unclear if Abigail is trapped in the cage in multiple different scenes or just one sequence that is split up throughout the trailer, the scene depicted in the movie reveals that the kidnappers discover her vampiric nature before the majority of them die. While it seems like Angus Cloud's character may be killed before they know the truth, the scene features at least four surviving members of the crew.
Sammy, the character played by Lisa Frankenstein star Kathryn Newton, is also key to the revelations in the new trailer. In addition to showcasing the characters Buffy the Vampire Slayer-esque preparedness in a shot that shows her clutching a flashlight and a baton, the trailer reveals a major gross-out sequence involving Sammy falling into a pit of decaying bodies while attempting to escape an attack. This seems to reveal that the mansion in which the crew is trapped is commonly used for Abigail to feed.
The original Abigail already implied that something was amiss when metal shutters locked the kidnappers inside the mansion. However, this latest revelation likely means that their boss Lambert (Giancarlo Esposito) is in cahoots with either Abigail or her crime lord father. It remains to be seen which members of the crew remain alive by the end of the movie, but this trailer emphasizes how much the odds are stacked against them.
