This is in the heart of Usman Road, arguably the biggest high street market of South India. It is also supposed to be India's biggest hub for jewellery sales, besides Zaveri Bazaar of Mumbai. Was surprised to see a special section right in, for retailing gold coins - a separate enclosure aptly titled "Pon Illam". On enquiry, was told that this has been started on a pilot basis at 3 places in India ( all in TN !). Q2 : Any reason for sharing this today ? A2 : Gold has touched an all-time high of 29 K today.
