www.es22.com/f :Outlook on Gold, Gold Funds

Forgive the sudden spurt of posts on my G+ stream. But this is actually a response to a customer query on gold. I am sure you know the basics - you can invest in gold in the following methods :
1. Buy Gold as coins/bars 2. Buy gold jewellery c. Buy Gold ETFs 4. Buy Gold Fund-of-Funds 5. Buy Gold-related companies 6. Dont touch gold !

Do see the post below, but our view is :

a.1 - 2 years horizon : Dont touch gold
b. 5-9 years : ok, you may buy
c. 10 years + : Go for it

I have purposely kept the 3-4 yr horizon unanswered !

To avoid being lynched on being slightly anti-gold ( esp by my wife), am attaching the gold price rates over last 50-60  years or so.

As you can see from this,

1960-70 & 75-77 and 1980 - 2000 : u've lost out if you had invested in gold
70-75 : good
77 - 80 : fantastic bonanza
2000 - 2008 : good
2008-2011 : fantastic bonanza

And that's my point - should we learn from history ?
