Virtual Teacher PD: Remote and Hybrid Lab Practices

Gain tools and experience strategies to engage your students in

scientific practices and sense-making through online lab

alternatives, questioning techniques, and case studies. The audience for this PD is 8th-12th grade teachers. Registration is limited, sign up today! Continuing Education Credits provided by Region 19.

Virtual learning has made it difficult for students to truly engage in scientific practices through laboratory explorations. This 2-day, 4-hour total, workshop, presented by Insights will share and model effective strategies. Day 1 addresses online lab alternatives; methods for students to practice experimental design while you, the teacher, collects the data; and questioning techniques that make the most of virtual phenomena. Day 2 will show how to incorporate case studies so that students can participate in sense-making and analysis of long-term and in-depth scientific “mysteries” as well as time for participants to apply what they’ve learned to a future lesson.

A stipend of $50 will be paid to the participants after the workshop, pending 100% attendance.
