to Duchy of El Dorado
Greetings El Dorado,
We had a populace meeting on Saturday, October 1, and we
discussed many things which will affect us all in the coming months.
At the top of the list is the resumption of our event schedule,
we have had a rocky year, and have let our monthly events slide.
Starting October 9, we will be resuming our normal monthly events. On
said day, we will be have an archery shoot and fighter practice/
tournament (if we have enough fighters), as well as a cook out. So,
come one, come all and let's have some fun.
Coming up quickly is the Las Cruces Renn Faire, on November
4,5,6. We will be having a presence, we will be putting up Sir
Bjorn's pavilion, so we need people to help put up and take it down on
Sunday. We will have our fighting field set up, as well as a table or
two for comfort and possibly A&S. If anyone cares to bring something
we will find judges. Also, we will be getting a number of wristbands
for entrance, and with those wristbands comes a certain
responsibility. If you take a wristband, you are agreeing to
participate in the event. That means fighting, A&S, judging,
marshaling, or even answering questions. You won't have to spend all
day doing so, but that's what you are signing up for.
Also, of a great amount of concern, is our slim membership
numbers. If you haven't sent in your membership, I highly encourage
you to do so. We need to start growing, and that will be most easily
accomplished by inviting your friends and family out to the events.
So, start bringing a friend to the events and let's get our numbers
growing again.
On another note, Sir Bjorn the Ambushy is planning a trip to
Umbria on December 9,10, and 11. I would love to see as many people
as possible make the trip with us. Yes, I am going to travel. If I
can, anyone can. Sir Bjorn has also seen fit to push for a double
elimination tournament while we are there. I agree that it would be
worth it, but in order to convince HRM Sir Puck and his minister of
war and joust, I feel the need to have a certain amount of leverage.
So, I am asking all of the El Doradoans who wish to make the journey,
please commit as early as you can, so that I can approach His Royal
Majesty with a roster of fighters, archers, and artisans that will be
accompanying my Ducal self. Travel space will be made available, so
the gas prices won't be too outrageous, and we will find crash space
well before the trip.
In closing, our events are restarting, we are beginning to grow,
and we are planning trips to visit our neighbors. Remember, carpools
are available to get people to events and traveling to Umbria is
always fun. (yummy Dim Sum)
Yours in Honor and Duty,
Sir Raphael of El Dorado
Duke of El Dorado
Lady Susan
Duchess of El Dorado
