Subject: Beekeepers honey for sale to public
To: <el-b...@thesundew.co.uk>

Hello,

I live in Hoxton, London N1 and I am looking for the nearest
beekeepers to buy my honey from.

Please could you send me details of any local East London beekeepers
(and/or street markets) where direct producers sell their honey to the
public?

I used to buy my honey in the Derbyshire Peak District for years (I
have to say the best honey I have ever had the pleasure to taste!),
when visiting family, but no longer make it up that way.

I have a car, so happy to drive a little to visit the nearest
beekeeper selling their honey.

Many thanks,
Simon

Hello, Simon.

I have local honey for sale and will be at Stoke Newington Farmers' Market on Saturday 16 May, and fortnightly throughout the year.

Kind regards,

Hello East London Beekeepers,

Several years ago for a brief period I was a member of your group and attended a couple of your meetings.

We kept bees in our small back garden in Hackney for a couple of years but sadly had to give up when my partner developed an allergy to bee stings.

We have quite a bit of stuff we really need to rehome and wondered if anyone is interested – ideally in taking a job lot.  It is still in our back garden at N1 4LD in varying condition and is listed below:

Langstroth hive and beekeeping equipment (MOSTLY USED):

17 top and bottom bar frame unmade parts
34 shallow side bar frame unmade parts
40 (approx) Langstroth shallow frames assembled with wax
3 Langstroth deep frames assembled with wax
1 Langstroth deep frame spacer
32 beeswax foundation Langstroth deep
10 beeswax foundation Langstroth shallow
Frame pins
Langstroth hive base with mesh bottom & landing platform
7 Langstroth hive box for shallow honey frames (2 polystyrene)
2 Langstroth hive brood boxes
1 hive roof
Used smoker
2 Used bee suits, hoods & gloves
Hive tool
Hive brush
Feeder.

Do let me know if you or someone you know might be interested in making a (modest) offer?

Warm regards

Kevin

Simon,

Your offer is very generous and I'm sure someone will follow it up.

Your partner's allergy: did you investigate a course of immunotherapy? A doctor can refer your partner to a hospital which specialises in treatment (when normal service resumes).

Regards,
Eric.

Hi Eric

We think that ‘one day’ we may start keeping bees again but are reconciled to being without them for now.

At the time we did a little research into immunotherapy but our GP didn’t think it would be covered by the NHS given our circumstances.

Maybe we’ll try again some day!

With thanks for your helpful suggestion – warm regards

Kevin

Hi Kevin

I developed a bee venom allergy after collecting several swarms in a short space of time and ended up fast tracked at Homerton A&E with a severe reaction.  Subsequently I got a referral from my doctor in Stoke Newington and started an immunotherapy program at the Homerton Allergy Clinic which I have just completed, I can now keep bees again.

The program takes some commitment to regular monthly injections but on the plus side it has the highest success rate of all possible allergies (96% I think).

Good to know.

All the Best

Richard

that’s right there’s been a recent development in the medication which means it’s less frequent than it was for me so more convenient when it comes to holidays etc.

All the best with the treatment
