Job Title: Security Engineer-Virtual Machines (Experience in Supporting Government Agency Programs is must)
Location: Manassas, VA
Duration: 3-6 Months Contract to Hire
Visa: USC or GC Only

Job Duties:

• Check server availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency, with focus on securing virtual machines.
• Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability for the security environment, with focus on securing virtual machines.
• Conduct periodic server maintenance including cleaning (both physically and electronically), disk checks, routine reboots, data dumps, and testing.
• Design group policies and access control lists to ensure compatibility with organizational standards, business rules, and needs.
• Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures.
• Install server fixes, updates, and enhancements.
• Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.
• Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
• Manage virtual server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
• Monitor and maintain virtual server configuration.
• Diagnose failed servers or connectivity problems.
• Oversee installation, implementation, configuration, and support of network components.
• Perform repairs on faulty server hardware.
• Plan and coordinate the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and other baseline software.
• Plan, execute, and verify data redundancy and system recovery procedures.
• Provide ongoing optimization and problem solving support.
• Resolve hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
• Propose new technologies or procedures that could be used to advance the ability to detect and mitigate malicious activity.
• Perform other official duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: Skills / Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience and advanced knowledge of security systems analysis, testing, and documentation.
• Knowledge of virtual environments, network operating systems, mobile device environments and data encryption methods.
• Demonstrated expertise in communication protocols, network operating systems, servers, firewall implementation, IPS/IDS systems, and advanced malware detection systems.
• Must be able to multi-task and work independently on moderate to complex assignments using independent professional discretion and judgment as well as transition quickly between projects with minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with elected officials, senior staff, information systems professionals, and technical and non-technical users.
• Ability to comprehend and integrate complex computer technology and software into an effective information systems security program. 
• Must have the ability to verify the solution meets the requirements.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, users, contractors and vendors.

 
Education / Experience:

• Minimum 5 years’ recent professional experience supporting DoD, government or defense agency programs.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, Associates degree or less acceptable with additional experience.
• US Citizenship.
• One or more of the following preferred (CISSP, GIAC, EnCE, CCE, CEH).
• Experience in Supporting Government Agency Programs is must.
