Sites up -- RE: [eiffel-users] Websites are down: eiffel.org and eiffel.com

There seems to have been a problem with a virtual machine. The sites work for me now. Thanks a lot for alerting us (and to  the Eiffel Software engineer who fixed the problem right away).

Just a few moments ago:

 

• eiffel.com was displaying the error message: "Error establishing a database connection"
• eiffel.org was displaying the error message "Issue with the storage initialization!"

 

This may already be known or being handled, but I thought it would be best to flag it just in case.

Somewhat off-topic: For Linux there exists some little tool named monit (https://mmonit.com/monit/) that can monitor (among others) network services and trigger corrective actions. At least it can send out E-Mail notifications. If you don't have any other monitoring you might have a look at it. It's implemented in C however 😉
