I needed a way to turn my books into YouTube videos complete with narration and video scenes appropriate to the narrative and timed perfectly with it. My local PC has an NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti with 16 GB of VRAM. So, I wanted this to be totally local to my machine such that producing the videos from the books and chapters in them would have ZERO COST to me (I already pay for Claude AI). What you will find in simple_reel is the result of my written software specification given to Claude Opus 4.8 with a little help from Fable 5 (while it lasts). I wrote ZERO code myself. I interacted with Claude pointing out needs as we went and the resulting code is what was built after those iterations.

Again — the utter STRENGTH of Eiffel is Design by Contract. It is rules + contracts + testing that allows the results to be built with little to no human coding. The interventions are all specification giving and tweaks along the way. Claude Opus 4.8 and Fable 5 do not as much as flinch at spec changes that would generally send human engineers into mental breakdowns and anxiety.

The entire thing took just a couple of hours to build. Most of that time was spent download AI models from hugging-face, setup, configuration(s), plus me tweaking the specs after each test video was built from the AI-supplied instructions.

FWIW: I can now point the AI and simple_reel.exe at any book, paper, or other written material and have it generate the entire MP4 video with both narration and appropriate scenes with just about ZERO human interaction.
