Hi,
Apologies for cross-posting. For those of you who do not already know, EIANZ's annual conference is being held in Melbourne this year on 30-31 October.
If you can only afford the time to attend one function, please come along and support EIANZ Ecology on Thursday afternoon, where we will begin talking about constructs for Ecological Impact Assessment guidelines. The whole day costs just $265. For more information on the conference program, visit http://eianzecology.blogspot.com/2008/07/ecology-at-eianz-october-conference.html.
If you are interested in attending the rest of the conference, it also promises to be a memorable and informative occasion:
We have an excellent program in a variety of subjects including Environmental Law, the EPBC Act, Climate Change Skills Training, Environmental Education, Sustainability Competencies. The professional development sessions are particularly popular and, for those who are interested, your participation at these sessions will count as points toward your CEnvP or other Continuing Professional Development (CDP) requirements.
The plenary conference is also proving to be quite popular with an outstanding list of speakers including Prof Peter Matthews, Joint Founder of the Society for the Environment in the UK, Andrew Stock from Origin Energy and one of the WME Magazine's Top 10 Environmental Champions, Dr Maxine Cooper, the Commissioner for Sustainability and the Environment, Cheryl Batagol, Chairman of Melbourne Water, and biodiversity specialists, Dr Sue Briggs from the CSIRO and Dr Mark Burgman from the Australian Centre of Excellence for Risk Analysis.
And then there's the Gala Dinner!!! World famous Australian Trevor Hendy will be our host, Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett will open the evening and present the 5 Merit and Service Awards and Olympic legend Shane Gould will deliver the key note address. It promises to be a most entertaining evening. We really hope to see you there.
If you require any information on the Conference please do not hesitate to contact Anne Young, EIANZ Operations Manager (03) 9654 7473--
Simon Mustoe.
