Dear friends,

Following last year's great success we are starting to move forward with the second SmartCamp competition.

SmartCamp is an exclusive event aimed at identifying early stage entrepreneurs who are developing business ventures that align with our IBM Smarter Planet vision.

This mentoring and networking event put entrepreneurs in touch with investment firms, serial entrepreneurs, academics, marketing, communications, and technology experts that can help accelerate the solutions of startup companies to market.

As in 2010, we are holding SmartCamp events around the world. In each location, five finalists will be selected for a one-day event to network with 25 world-class entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts.

The Global Technology Unit (GTU) in Israel is leading the Israeli event, which will be held in September 2011. The winning company will participate in an international competition in the beginning of 2012.

We are now looking for suitable companies, and would like to ask you for suitable referrals.
There is no single company that is perfect for the SmartCamp concept. Every company is different, so basically we're looking for companies that can add value to any of the three I's: Instrumented, Intelligent, and Interconnected.

SmartCamp looks for early stage companies, but keep in mind that the business and product must be real—in other words, be beyond the conceptual idea or business plan stage.
We encourage you to join our endeavors in searching for the smartest start up, and take part in this successful competition.
