In a retrospective review, The A.V. Club's William Hughes stated that the song "displays some of the worst of its decade's (and composer's) typical excesses: The lyrics are laughable, and the heavy-handed synths and piano riffs come dangerously close to cheese", but adds, "The sum of those parts transcends their limitations, hooking directly into pure emotional need like only the greatest of torch songs can."[5]
The accompanying music video for "Holding Out for a Hero" was produced by Jeffrey Abelson for Parallax Productions, directed by Doug Dowdle, with the concept by Keith Williams. It was filmed at the Grand Canyon, Arizona, and at Veluzat Ranch, California.[6] It was the second video released to promote Footloose while featuring no movie footage in the video.

The accompanying music video for "We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)" features Turner dressed in her Aunty Entity costume from the Mad Max film, a heavy chain mail gown. As several spotlights shine on her, she proceeds to sing atop a platform while various scenes from the film are interspersed. In the last portion of the video, Turner is accompanied by a children's choir and Tim Cappello, her tour saxophonist, percussionist and keyboardist at the time. The music video received an MTV Video Music Award nomination for Best Female Video.
Nothing is assumed! Your hand is held from first notes to star performances, even if you have never taught music before. And it is packed with tips and tricks for musicians too, taking music-teaching to a new level.

While working on the first idea, a question kept running through my mind: But what about the dads who ARE there? What about the dads who give of themselves in really heroic ways every day? Should we avoid honoring them because of the dads (or the parents) who don't do that?
HOWEVER! Just like "More Than Enough" doesn't ever use the word "mother" or "mom," I didn't use the word "father" or "dad" in this song. So it's implied that the kids are singing about our dads (especially if they sing it on Father's Day), but in reality, the child can sing to whoever their hero is -- whether it's Mom, Grandma or Grandpa, neighbor, teacher, maybe even a music leader! :)
Let's do it one more time, and let's do the downbeat thing again -- stand up and sit down on the downbeat. And we start right off with the word 'I', which means we need to stand up on the very first word!
Now can we sing the whole thing now from the beginning -- and while you're singing I want you to pretend you're singing to your dad (or your hero) -- and that means you're going to sing with feeling, right?
CWC Music Video Holding Out For a Hero is an elaborate (by Chris's standards) music video created for his then-sweetheart Ivy. It was uploaded to YouTube on 26 March 2009, and later reuploaded to Chris's IBAChandler account on 29 July 2009, despite his relationship with Ivy ending months earlier. The music video pairs a cover (wailed over a music track) of Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out For a Hero" with footage of Chris and the Sonichu comic. It is quite possibly one of Chris's most well-known videos.
The song showcases his many failings in music, such as his lack of preparation and poor timing. He once again uses Guitar Hero to try and prove that he has musical ability, and mimes intense solos (whammy bar included) to a song with no guitar work. To his credit, this video shows that Chris has some editing ability- even if the entire video is presented in a grainy, ghastly, yellowed fashion due to poor treatment of his camera and the subpar lighting in his bedroom.
I made a demo featuring background music that goes through the whole course (doesn't change from slide to slide). The user can chose from four songs to listen to and can adjust the volume, and the song continues playing through every slide and loops when it completes. I've also added instructions on how to make this work to the module.
I've put together a second demo that shows a different way to do this. This second version performs the same actions as the first one, but without needing to edit the output files every time you publish! It saves a lot of headaches when you need to edit something in the course because now you don't have to drop the music files into the output folder and you dont have to edit the html file every time you publish!
Hi Jackson, I've tried several different ways to get this to work for me without much luck - I am not super experienced at code, so I am confused about what the exact code should look like, including the code to add in the music. This is what I added in, but I don't think it is correct:
A BIG Thank You, Jackson. I have a nursing course with many StoryLine components, include a separate References and Credits module. Adding background music to each slide just didn't sound right. However, your solution makes it much more professional sounding.
All you need to do is use the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left corner of the reply box in the thread, and you can browse for the file from there. Please also note that if you reply via email, your attachment will not appear here in the thread. Thanks! :)
"We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)" is a 1985 song by Tina Turner and from the 1985 movie Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. It topped the charts in Australia, Canada, Germany, Poland, Spain and Switzerland and went to number 2 in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal and the United States. The music video features future England rugby player Lawrence Dallaglio.
Though it has been the best part of a decade since the most recent release of a new game in the Guitar Hero series, rumors have emerged that a Guitar Hero reboot may be in development as part of Microsoft and Activision's new partnership. Though a new game hasn't been officially revealed, the mere prospect of it has fans of the once-popular rhythm music game franchise incredibly excited. While the most recent Guitar Hero release, 2015's Guitar Hero Live, was generally underwhelming, with seven mainline entries and approximately 3000 songs, the franchise has retained a loyal fanbase of dedicated players.
The latest in a series of rumors regarding the Guitar Hero franchise's future was ignited by Activision CEO Bobby Kotick (via WindowsCentral), who during a meeting praised Microsoft's technological capabilities and speculated that the company's advancements in fields such as AI could conceivably make "the re-emergence of Guitar Hero" possible. Though Kotick's comment on the series may be innoxious, many have taken them to be a subtle hint at the pending return of one of gaming's most iconic and innovative franchises. An additional factor of interest concerns the music. Would a rebooted Guitar Hero return to classic tracks that are widely associated with the franchise, or would it greatly expand its repertoire?
Though "R U Mine?" was featured in Guitar Hero Live, other tracks from the 2013 album AM were not so lucky; although the Arctic Monkey's has released new musical material since AM, nothing has come close to the quality or critical and commercial success of the album that features classics like "Do I Wanna Know?" and "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?"
There have been many great songs about acts of heroism big and small, and in times like these, boy do we need heroes and heroines! Hosts Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot share their favorite songs about heroes. They'll also hear selections from the production team and review the new albums by Beyoncé and Drive-By Truckers.
In their fourteenth album, Drive-By Truckers are as potent as ever, making Welcome 2 Club XIII well worth a listen. As long-time admirers of the band, Jim and Greg appreciate the clear-eyed lyrics that look back at the band's early days and out at the music community.
For more than 15 years, Sound Opinions was a production of WBEZ, Chicago's public radio station. Now that the show is independent, we're inviting you to join the band and lend a hand! We need your support more than ever because now we have to do all the behind-the-scenes work that WBEZ handled before (like buying insurance and paying for podcast hosting, ugh). Plus, we have some exciting ideas we'd like to try now that there's no one to tell us no!
The usage of the song is impressive because it perfectly reflects the motivations of each character in the scene. Shrek is the literal hero on his way to save the day. Fiona knows something is wrong and is literally the one holding out for a hero. Harold is hoping for Charming to save the day so he does not get outed as a frog, while the Fairy Godmother and Charming think they are the heroes in this situation. The contrasting motivations change the meaning of the song depending on which characters we are following. Creating suspense and tension from different perspectives is a feat that is hard to pull off in a film.
Medicine is as much of an art as it is a science. Rendering medical care is arguably one of the most intimate and vulnerable relationships that exist, from a patient confiding to you a concern in the office to surrendering his or her body under anesthesia. If Taylor Swift can be the force that causes the castle of the music industry to crumble by doubling down on the artist-fan relationship, certainly physicians can take a page from her playbook to safeguard the patient-physician relationship.
Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where's the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need
(Chorus)
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life (larger than life)
Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I could swear that there's someone somewhere
Watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach
Like the fire in my blood (like a fire in my blood x4)
hero
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
and he's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
hero
And he's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
