The moment Fall hits, we rush to our local coffee shop and order a pumpkin spice latte. We love them so much, we took it upon ourselves to try making it at home. This recipe is easy and I bet you have most, if not everything, you need to make it at home right now. It also comes together in under 10 minutes!

What we have going on here is delicious spice-loaded shrimp tucked in between smashed avocado and a cabbage slaw that is heavy with a homemade creamy lime sauce. Question: topped with crumbly, salty Cotija cheese, and wrapped in a corn tortilla with a wedge of lime squeezed over the top? Answer: Yes.

Just recently discovered your blog. This shawarma seasoning mix was absolutely delicious. I used it with chicken and served with pita. My entire family, even my very picky 4 year old grandchildren, loved this. Hooray! Finally got them to eat something with a little seasoning. The allspice gives this a wonderfully warm flavor that my grandchildren really liked. I have used a variety of seasoning mixes (harissa, baharat, blackened spice mix, etc) but they liked this the best. Thanks so much for sharing. This is a keeper. Next time will try with beef.

This sounds like a very delicious spice blend, aromatic and full of perfume, and probably just the one I like. So why have I got into my head, that everything middle eastern needs a nice pinch of cumin.

thanks for the recipe, loved th e flavour, most shawarma recipes add cumin and i dont like cumin ,also i make a chicken and herb rice with tumeric added could i add a half tsp of the shawarma spice to it ?

I made this today and used it in meatballs and on roasted potatoes. It was delicious! I was out of oregano, so I put in a bit of basil instead. It made a generous amount, so I have some stored in my pantry for next time and have some samples ready to share with friends.

I gathered all my old spices for the shawarma seasoning and made a big batch and put it in its own shaker. It smells really good. For a few hrs, marinate the boneless skinless chicken thighs in the seasoning along with olive oil, white vinegar and a homemade garlic dressing(equal parts mayo and plain yogurt) a few cloves Crushed Garlic and alittle lemon juice and grill the chicken over high heat.
Let it sit for at least 10mins, cut it up, line shredded lettuce, tomato half slices, red onion, on a warm pita bread, arrange cut chicken on top, then top pita with leftover garlic sauce.

I use my homemade almond milk as the base and then flavor it up with some pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract and just a kiss of maple syrup. I used pumpkin puree from a can, but if you have time, you can make it yourself.

All real, wholesome ingredients without any of the additives or refined sugars. Take it from me, this creamy, homemade pumpkin spice latte is worth the 10 minutes it takes to make. So perfect for a cool and crisp fall morning or afternoon, and dare I say, you may never want the coffee shop version again!

I love your suggestions about sugar cravings. So grounded and wise. I just wanted to add that besides naturally sweet foods, like squash, there are many naturally sweet flavors that can be added. Your latte is a great example. Cinnamon and vanilla just make things taste sweeter. If you make an apple dessert, for example, with a whole lot of cinnamon, you will find that you need less sugar for it to taste sweet enough. Other warming spices like coriander, and cardamon add a rich flavor that needs less sweetening.

And the best part of this homemade Moroccan spice blend is that you can customize the heat. I have had problems in the past with store-bought Moroccan spice blends that were waaaay too spicy for me. All I got was so much heat that I couldn't even taste the flavors.

Making your own spice blends is so easy, and I bet you already have all of these ingredients in your pantry! All you need to do is mix them up and store them in an air tight container for up to a year. A year!!

TASTE: Perfectly sweet with the perfect amount of pumpkin flavor, with a delicious pecan-studded brown sugar streusel in the middle AND on top, and finished with a fabulous maple glaze.
TEXTURE: The cake is super moist, fluffy, and light, while the streusel brings a heavenly subtle crunch.
EASE: Super easy and ready in only 1 hour!
PROS: Easy and crazy delicious.
CONS: None.
WOULD I MAKE THIS AGAIN? 1000% yes!! I make this every fall.

The Pumpkin Spice Coffee Cake itself can be covered and stored for up to 4 days. This cake stays very moist and the pumpkin spice flavor actually improves over time! Make this cake the night before serving it to save yourself time.

I made this recipe, but I cut the sugar in half. I also substituted plain greek yogurt for the sour cream and avocado oil for the vegetable oil. It was plenty sweet enough and was still moist and delicious!

The nice thing about this seasoning is that you can add a dab of butter into the pan at the end so it mixes in with the spices and you have yourself a lovely flavoured butter sauce to drizzle over your fish!

I want to try this, but will omit cayenne and mustard. I have to get celery salt. I have never tried it but will use it.
Can I add panko bread crumbs in the spice mixture? I usually use panko in fish.
Thanks!

Today we're talking all about spices and I'm sharing my top 10 essential spices for everyday cooking. These are the spices that I use the most. The ones I keep on my bottom spice shelf for easy grabbing. And the ones I find myself replacing over and over again.

This list is full of spices that can be used in a variety of recipes, are easy to find and are packed with flavor! I'm excited to be partnering with my friends at Simply Organic as their spices are by far my favorite. They're high quality, incredibly fresh and potent, are all organic and they have an incredible range to choose from.

Cinnamon is by far my fave spice! I use it every single day and go through it super quickly. I love adding it to my morning smoothies, oatmeal and pancakes, and you will almost always see it in my baked goods. I love sprinkling cinnamon on top of apples for a sweet snack, and it can actually also be used in savory cooking like curry!

Garlic powder is another spice that we go through on the regular. We use it in almost all of our savory cooking including guacamole and salad dressings. What I love about garlic powder is that you a) don't have to chop fresh garlic and b) you don't have to worry about burning fresh garlic. The garlic powder from Simply Organic has a really fine texture, so it blends nicely and tastes just like real garlic. (

Turmeric is well known for staining everything in your kitchen yellow (including your fingers), but it's also an incredible spice to add into your diet. Aside from all the health benefits that we've talked about before, turmeric can be used for way more than curries and Indian dishes. I love using turmeric in oatmeal, salad dressings, soups and of course, golden milk!

Chili powder and quinoa are a match made in heaven which is probably why I love it so much. This spice actually combines a variety of peppers and pairs perfectly with Central and South American cuisine. Simply Organic carries a few different chili powders, which range in flavor and heat, but if you're looking for just a solid, standard chili powder, theirs is the best. Not too spicy and just the right amount of flavor!

I wouldn't be my mother's daughter if I didn't mention Italian Seasoning. If you love making pasta, pizza and really anything with Italian flavors, you need this spice blend in your cabinet. For starters, it will save you money and space because it blends all the classic Italian spices into one jar. And the one from Simply Organic I have found is the best spice ratio. I use this all the time; we love it on roasted veggies, in marinades, dressings and of course, any and everything Italian!

I learned to love cumin from my mom. She uses it in her cooking all the time (and it's actually her secret ingredient in her guacamole) and I am now a cumin convert. It's delicious in savory cooking and pairs exceptionally well with Latin American and Indian cuisines. It's not one I use every single day, but it can completely transform the flavor of your dish and takes it to a whole new level!

Maybe not the most popular spice around, but I seriously am in love with smoked paprika! My favorite way to use it is actually on popcorn (it pairs really well with nutritional yeast), but it's also delicious with roasted sweet potatoes and most Mexican/Southwestern inspired dishes. You do need to like smokiness for this spice, which is probably why I adore it so much, but if that's not for you, you can always pick up Simply Organic's traditional paprika as well.

As we're getting into pumpkin season, nutmeg HAS to be on the list. I could eat pumpkin spiced things all year round (and in fact, I do with my daily matcha), but it does lend itself particularly nicely to the colder months of the year. It's a warming, grounding spice that is amazing in baked goods, but can also be used in savory cooking. It's actually my secret ingredient in one of my cauliflower soup recipes! It adds a gorgeous, robust flavor that is wonderfully unexpected!
