Ehcache 3 replication

I was looking at ehcache 3 and impressed with the offheap store. But I counldn't find the peer to peer replication support (as previous ehcache versions have).

This is something that is yet to come on ehcache 3 or am I missing something?

Hey, 

Well, there currently is no plans on our side to support replication as you know it from the 2.x line. 

Now, we'll have clustering support backed by Terracotta's new platform that's currently being worked on. Clustering comes with many advantages over the replication models: proper consistency model(s), better data locality on a per-node basis, ... All OSS and free to use. 

Now there were other models that were brought to our attention, like https://github.com/bitsofinfo/ehcache-jms-wan-replicator 

While, again, we don't plan on actively working on such an approach ourselves on the short term for the 3.x line, maybe others may show interest. The modular approach of the 3.x line should make this not only perfectly feasible, but also seamless for users to then use.

Any updates to this? Just wondering if ehcache 3 had any options for replication at this point. If not we may attempt to build our own but didn't want to do something unnecessary if it was already there.

Hi Kris,

There is no plan to add replication so far.

However clustering is coming soon with the 3.1.0 release.

Hi Louis,

Thanks for the update. I'll keep an eye out for 3.1.0. We're very excited to start using ehcache 3 but without clustering or replication it's a non-starter. We were considering building our own but if it's right around the corner we could probably wait a bit.
