Dear Josep and other members of the Egyptian Scripts Working Group,

In my research, I have selected a number of salient examples from a
corpus of about 600 texts. Among these inscriptions, I have identified
narrative infinitives, participles, and relative forms. I have
included here an example of each.

*Kahl Quelle Nr.: Jochem Kahl, Das System der agyptischen
Hieroglyphenschrift in der 0.-3. Dynastie (Wiesbaden: Harrassowitz
Verlag, 1994).

1) Narrative Infinitive: Kahl Quelle Nr: 18
Transliteration: iri-Hr pH...
Discussion: This example is similar to Quelle Nr. 544 (Aha), in which
there is also a Dfa.w SmA.w situated to the left of pH.
Translation: The arrival of (provisions/supplies)
Citation: Werner Kaiser and Gunther Dreyer, "Umm el-Qaab:
Nachuntersuchungen im frühzeitlichen Königsfriedhof," Mitteilungen des
Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts, Abteilung Kairo 38 (1982): 234,
Figure 10a.

2) Imperfective Active Participle: Kahl Quelle Nr: 125
Transliteration: nAr-mr Htp Xnmw
Discussion: Ongoing or regular action is preferred in the translation.
Since Htp does not geminate, it can be an imperfective participle.
Translation: Narmer, the one who satisfies Chnum
Citation: Erika Schott, “Die Sockelinschrift des Narmeraffen,” Revue
d'Égyptologie 21 (1969): 81, Figure 5.

3) Imperfective sDm=f relative: Kahl Quelle Nr: 535
Transliteration: mr(r) mDH.w/mHw.t*
Discussion: mr could stand for mrr, as gemination is not always
expressed.
*For discussion of this particular feline in conjunction with titles,

Harrassowitz, 1987), 260; Wendy Wood, “A Reconstruction of the Reliefs
of Hesy-re,” Journal of the American Research Center in Egypt 15
(1978): 15.
Translation: the one whom [divine entity] loves
Citation: Peter Kaplony, Die Inschriften der ägyptischen Frühzeit III
(Wiesbaden: Otto Harrassowitz, 1963), Figure 140.
