Some rule clarifications:
- Is the dart going to have its tail fins or will it be just the shaft
and tip?
- What are the size restrictions, if any?
- Is this event going to timed for judging?

Thats it for now and thank you for your time,

The answers below will appear in an update later.

> - Is the dart going to have its tail fins or will it be just the shaft
> and tip?

It will be a regular dart including tail fins. The tips will be a
regular threaded body and point, the tail will be a single plastic
piece.

> - What are the size restrictions, if any?

It must fit in a 12 inch cube.

> - Is this event going to timed for judging?

Yes

Dr. Jack,

Two questions:
1. Can we get either a definite rope material / size or possibly a
small sample. Our designs depends on knowing the rope's
characteristics.
2. What color is the Laser that will be used to signal our robot.

Thank you for your time,
K.H.

I plan to purchase the rope and lasers soon. Given my preference for
low cost the laser pointers should be red.

---- Questions I received----

1. What do you expect for us to turn in for the preliminary design
concept? Just 1 sketch?

2. Is the laser going to be centered on the rope?

3. Are you constrained to specific drive system components?

------------------------------------

1. Sept 28 - Preliminary design concept submitted with specifications
sketches for multiple VIABLE concepts
materials list estimate for each concept
budget estimate for each concept
Gantt charts for overall project

2. The laser will be centered on the rope for the beginning of the
competition. But, it will not be adjusted after the competition
starts.

3. There are no limits for drive system components

Dr. Jack,

To clarify, the other items listed under conceptual design
deliverables (decision matrix, block diagram, etc.) are not due 9/28?

Thanks.

Dr. Jack,

Project Question:
What might be the potential distance from laser to rope at the
start of competition?

I don't have a specific distance in mind, but the columnar nature of
the laser should help negate the effects of distance.

Is the dart included in the 12 cubic inch size limitation, or is it
the robot without holding the dart?
