Advisiory: Wanacrypt ransomware Attack Computers around the world running earlier versions of Windows such as Windows XP (from 2001…) and Windows Server 2003 were impacted by a malicious vulnerability called ‘Wanacrypt’. Experts have determined the malicious code takes control of the computer and encrypts all the data on the hard drive. System Administrators and Network Administrators are advised to Patch all their systems immediately including old Microsoft Operating Systems if any, from the appropriate links provided above. Alternatively, administrators can run 'Windows Update' on their systems and ensure that all patches deployed successfully.They must ensure that Anti-Virus software is up and running on the systems of their administrative control.
