I was able to upload the .docx file to my google drive, save it in google docs format, and download it as a Word document, but still couldn't open the downloaded .docx file in Word. My Google Drive was last updated in August, 2023, and I'm running Word 365 Version 2312 Build 16.0.17126.20078) 64-bit. I'm still looking for directions on how to run the Microsoft Text Recovery Converter, but haven't found any.

Check the link below for other methods to fixing damaged word files. This list of methods is pretty comprehensive and includes the "Recover Text from Any File" method and the Save the document to other formats method, which is like the google drive/docs method.

I followed these steps and when I tried to open the Word document, I got a popup message "There was an error opening the file." The message popped up immediately and there was no sign that the Text Recovery Converter ever ran. I'm running Word for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2312 Build 16.0.17126.20078) 64-bit.

Hi @Christi Manley ,
Where did you get the message about "text recovery converter"?
Could you provide the screenshot about the message in Word?
As far as I know you can refer to this support article about "Recover your Word files and documents":

No on will see your request, because you hijacked a thread about another subject. Please start a new thread and include more information, like you version of Office, operating system and details about what file permission problem you're having. Hi Everyone, I haven't tried this yet, but will in a few minutes. It's been a while, but I'm guessing I purchased Window7 a while ago. The way Microsoft deleted the info so it could no longer be used I thought was crude, unfair or maybe not really legal. I think everyone who has paid for Windows 7 should receive money back or at least a credit towards purchasing Microsoft 365. Anyone else feel this way?

Windows and Microsoft Office (Microsoft 365) are two different products, so a license for Windows 7 doesn't entitle you to Microsoft 365. What may have happened to you is that a trial version of Microsoft 365 was included with the computer when you bought it, and it stopped working when the trial version expired. You probably know this by now, but you'll have to purchase either a subscription to Microsoft 365 or a license for Microsoft Office to get the Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Alternatively, you can purchase individual licenses for each app, but if you want to use more than one app, it's cheaper to buy the Office (or Microsoft 365) bundle of apps.

I've created a form where responses populate a word doc template and create a file in SharePoint. This all works fine. The next step should convert the document to a pdf, but I get an error that says --The selected file doesn't exist, please select a valid file and drive. clientRequestId: 0b8924ab-4efe-47c3-991e-a8672fc6386e-- at the 'Convert Word Document to PDF step', However, it does exist. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Below are some pictures of my flow up to that step. Note: in the 'Convert to PDF' step, I've tried, from the 'Create File' step: ID, Name, and DisplayName.

You're not missing anything - the "Convert file" OneDrive (preview) action just bit the big one a month or two ago and now this Convert to Word Document is the only option unless you want to pay Adobe $25,000 a year OR are okay with setting up new Adobe API user accounts every 500 PDFs lol

Mine is a little different from @Mike44's, because I am storing the PDF files.

First, I populate the template and create the word file in sharepoint. Then I convert it to PDF, save it, attach that to the email, and delete the Word file.

How did you attach the converted pdf file to email? I am more specifically asking the step before "Add request to sharepoint list". I could not see which pdf file to choose to attach to the email. Did you use the path of folder or the location? I would appreciate if you could share it. Thanks!

Another option that I found useful is LibreOffice. It's a free open-source office suite that includes a tool called Writer, which can open and convert PDF to word on Windows 11 computer. Just open LibreOffice Writer, go to File > Open, select your PDF file, and then save it as a Word document. It maintains the formatting quite well, especially for basic layouts.

I hope these suggestions work out for you as they did for me. Let me know if you give them a try and how it goes. Good luck with your PDF to Word conversion endeavors!

Another proven way to convert PDF to Word on Windows is using the popular Adobe Acrobat. It is one of the best PDF to Word converters that works on Windows PC and Mac. To convert a PDF to a Word document using Adobe Acrobat on a Windows computer, follow these steps:

Step 1: Start by opening Adobe Acrobat. If you don't have it installed, you can download and install it from the Adobe website. Adobe Acrobat Reader is free, but to convert PDFs to Word documents, you will need Adobe Acrobat Pro, which is a paid version.

Ah, gotcha! So, I stumbled upon this neat little tool called "UniPDF." As a best PDF to word converter for Windows computer, UniPDF is pretty straightforward to use. You just drag and drop your PDF files into the interface, select Word as the output format, and hit convert button to conver PDF to word on Windows computer. What I love about it is that it manages to maintain most of the formatting pretty darn well, even with complex layouts and funky fonts.

Once the conversion is complete, navigate to the output folder you selected earlier. You'll find all the converted Word documents there. Open them in Microsoft Word to review and ensure that the formatting has been preserved to your satisfaction.

One of the standout features of PDFElement is its powerful PDF conversion capabilities. Users can effortlessly convert PDF documents to and from multiple formats such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more without losing the original layout and formatting. This feature is particularly useful for professionals who need to convert large volumes of documents while ensuring that the integrity of the data is maintained.

Moreover, PDFElement incorporates advanced OCR technology, enabling the conversion of scanned documents into editable and searchable formats, thus enhancing productivity and accessibility in document management processes.

First off, have you tried Adobe Acrobat? It's a pretty solid option for preserving formatting during conversions. If you don't have access to Acrobat, there are some other tools out there like PDFGeeker and Foxit PhantomPDF that do a decent job too.
