Hi friends, I have a well assembled Eggbot and I can't figure out how
to open Inkscape. I have an X11 icon thingy that pops up in my dock
when I click on the Inkscape icon that's on my desktop. I have a Mac
that's running OS X Lion 10.7.2 so I guess I've got what I need. I'm
just running into a wall. I'm appealing to the Mac/Inkscape fairy to
visit me and get my dear Eggbot up and running. I'd appreciate any
advice. (Please note, I am a Mac user because I am NOT tech. savvy,
so talk to my like I am four.)

Hi Barbie,
The X11 icon is normal; it's a program that opens at the same time as
Inkscape. You should be able to click the Inkscape icon in your dock to
get back to Inkscape. Inkscape *may* take additional time to open. In
particular, the first time that it opens, it may take several minutes to
open because it needs to scan all of your system fonts. (After that, it
will launch much more quickly.) So, be sure to give it a few minutes
the first time, and try clicking the Inkscape logo in your dock, to see
if that gets you to the program.

If Inkscape is really not opening at all, you may still need to install
XQuartz (a fancy new version of X11). Quit X11 (and Inkscape, if open),
and download and install this software, from the link that follows,
before opening up Inkscape again:

Windell,
I got the XQuartz loaded, but when I get the Inkscape icon in the
applications folder, click on it, I get a message "it may take several
minutes to open" then nothing happens. Any ideas? Thanks
