Dear Vice Chancellors and Principals,

This is to let you know that the above launch takes place this afternoon at the Main Campus, University of Nairobi starting at 2.00 PM. The is really a graduate internship program for ICT graduates (EE, CS, IT/IS) and is part of the National ICT Masterplan that aims to develop ICT skills to make graduates employable, particularly in the public sector. Are you represented?

As you know, we have been promoting a slightly different approach for ICT skills development for recent graduates. Please see the Graduate Trainees jobs we have posted on our recruitment portal (see http://recruitment.kenet.or.ke). It is a one-year training that is supposed to develop capacity for KENET and member universities. This is in recognition of the fact that the main cause for unemployment among ICT graduates all over the world is lack is lack of employment skills (see the Mckinsey Center for Government Report titled “Education to Employment: Designing a System that works”).

KENET is working on other private companies that aim to fill the employment skills (e.g., IBM Middle East and Africa University program, Intel and Oracle University outreach programs). They all want to leverage on our community cloud and broadband connections to reach your students and faculty. We shall keep you posted. Unemployment is a serious problem for our community.

Kind regards

Meoli Kashorda
KENET
