Ndolo,
We need more visibility on leadership of the alumni union, key activities planned out, how we can make an impact on the institution and what we are set to benefit from it.

More like a strategic plan. Collecting our contacts alone doesnt seem to help anyone.
Please share this feedback.

I will update you all on further deliberations on use of the Alumni List But One of the main Reasons for the Alumni union is there are a variety of Items in the pipeline one of which being that Egerton is considering launching Masters relating to computer Science or Information Based and would need to reach a wide audience with Infor on The same,
One other reason probable job placements and other related activities

@Ndolo, this list should have been formed like 10years ago.

@the rest, its not ndolo to form the agenda. He is trying to bring you together so that you can altogether form an agenda that you can own, embrace and disseminate. This way, it will be easy to sell it to many others like you who form the creme de la creme of the IT industry from Egerton University.

The benefits are manifold:
1. Networking - You will be surprised by the offices some of your colleagues hold
2. Job and business seeking/support
3. Supporting the department to become better than it is. If becomes better, then your profile will become more reputable. There are challenges you observed that you might want to help address.
4. Corporate Social Responsibility
5. Consultancy
6. Projects
7. etc, etc, etc

BTW, l suggest if you could go ahead and organise a dinner for your classmates and invite the department. Now that the year is coming to a close. I am sure its not a difficult thing to organise. Asking each person to come along with 1k to a venue that you would consider central and good enough. all you need to start of is a confirmation by about 20guys then approach a hotel and negotiate a buffet or some choma.

Last Saturday, l managed to organise a successful luncheon of my alumni (guys we went to campus with). This was the third one. The first a breakfast meeting and the second a luncheon and the last one too a luncheon. It took place at some hotel around GPO. We managed to negotiate 450/= (an average buffet and a drink). About 40 guys showed up.

hmm...
Great idea for dinner but too soon. Y not push abit further so that
alumni can have ample time to fit in schedules.
Suggestion: Dinner can be xtended to other years too
(egertondat...@googlegroups.com is currently for yr12
graduates)
