Project Assistant with linguistics knowledge, and competence and experience in programming, to develop text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis systems for Indian languages. The project is housed in IIT-Madras.

Position: Project Assistant
Education: MA Linguistics (preferred)
Language preference: the more the better
Remuneration: Minimum Rs 40,000/- (will increase according to experience)

The objective of this project is to “parse all Indian languages into a uniform label set.” We have developed a common label set for 18 Indian languages and Indian English. We need to augment this for languages like Kashmiri, Urdu, Sindhi, Kui, Kurukh and maybe Munda (if there is a request from the community).

This is a consortium-based project funded by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeiTY), Government of India involving 23 institutions and SMT, IITM being one of them.
