Hello efibootguard team,

While compiling latest efibootguard commit[1], we are getting some compile errors. I guess there is a build dependency missing on my setup which causes this error.

Here I am sharing the error message.

Do we have to add new dependencies while building Project?

With best regards,

Sercan Gungor

Betreff: Building Error on efibootguard

Hello Jan,

We are getting a compile error while building your commit in efibootguard Project[1]. The error log says:

utils.c:326:2: error: unknown type name ‘EFI_SIMPLE_TEXT_OUT_PROTOCOL’

.

.

.

Should we add new dependencies fort his commit?

With best regards,

Sercan Gungor

Well, no. The dependencies are still correct.
I just did a build with
{gnu-,}efi-libs 3.0.9
{pciutils,libpci-dev} 3.6.2
which has worked. So I think your efi-libs is too old to
have EFI_SIMPLE_TEXT_OUT_PROTOCOL defined.

Kind regards,
Christian

Correct. I just did a check on different versions: The protocol is
defined since 3.0.5 from 2017-01-09.

Version 3.0.4, which does not have it is from March 2016... so 3 years
old. I prepare a patch to update the documentation.

Hi Andreas,

Thanks for your detailed answer.
I tried compiling with gnu-efi 3.0.9 which is on stretch-backports and no problem.

Best regards.

We addressed the issue in current next differently so that you can also use that
older gnu-efi version.
