Since a discussion group isn't very effective without a discussion, I
start with a first message.
What would be a good first topic? Maybe about the definition of
'effectiveness'? Would that be necessary, or does everyone already
know what effectiveness means?
I like to check Wikipedia for definitions. Not always accurate, or
even complete, but mostly good for a first idea.
So this is what I found (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effectiveness):
"Effectiveness means the capability of producing an effect."
and:
An ordinary way to distinguish between effectiveness, efficacy and
efficiency:
* efficiency: Getting things done
* effectiveness: doing the "right" things
* effectivity: a level of getting things done
* efficacy: Doing things "right"
I would add one word to effectiveness: 'right'.
Effectiveness is about "doing the right things right." Still, the
emphasis is on doing the *right* things.
That makes effectiveness most important, in my opinion.
With the first definition I agree less, because a "capability" isn't
worth much without action!
What do you think?
Best regards,
Ralf.
