The music of the film was composed by Rahul Dev Burman and the lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. And then came a song that featured Krishna and expressed the romantic side of him. Songs were now using Krishna as a metaphor and simile to establish love, fondness and romance between the lead pair. This song from 1978 Satyam Shivam Sundaram also broke the orthodox way songs featured lord Krishna. Sexualization was used as an asset in the song.

Kannah Soja Zara
This song from 2017 Bahubali 2 is another upbeat and party-like song even though it celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, much like other upbeat South Indian movie songs. The song featuring Anushka and Prabhas is also traditionally significant as people from the south of India have deep faith in Lord Krishna.

I have been a silent reader on this blog for over a couple of months. This site is awesome, This site helps me in gaining more valuable knowledge or news. Thanks for sharing this beautiful post, it helped me a lot to find best bhajan songs really thanks again and all the best for your work. I really recommend these bhajans who love to listen to devotional music or songs.

Pranaam! As a student of Indian Classical Music and Dance, I would like to point out that there are a variety of compositions. The songs you have mentioned, not all classify as Bhajans. I recommend you do research on the difference between thumris, dadra, kari, hori, bhajan and then make a fresh list. But this blog is very helpful for all Krishna related songs in Bollywood.

Each song that you have compiled is soaked in the depth of Bhakti Ras, revealing every aspect of Kanhaji.
Just as suggestions, there are a quite few more songs I know of, that are dedicated to Shri Krishna. These songs touch divinity at a purely different level, through poetry and sangeet.
These might not be pure Bollywood, but have been used in films and serials nevertheless. Here is a list :

The celebration includes dance and drama enactments of the life of Lord Krishna and devotees also sing devotional songs. The love of Krishna and Radha is being celebrated every day all around the globe and Bollywood has also composed some beautiful songs to mark their union.

Krishna, the dancing god, has been a muse for Bollywood music and dance for centuries. His playful personality and divine grace have inspired countless songs that are both catchy and soulful. These melodies not only get your feet moving, but they also transport you to a higher plane of consciousness.

In 1978, the song 'Bhore Bhayi Panghat pe' from Satyam Shivam Sundaram broke the mold when it came to how songs about Lord Krishna were traditionally done. Instead of shying away from his sexuality, the song embraced it, using it as an asset to create a truly unique and memorable experience.

In our films there have been many bhajans or devotional songs where the actor/actress is seen singing in front of the deity either in a temple amidst a large public gathering or in a small sacred place in the home where there is a on to one relation between the Lord and his devotee. These songs could be either happy or sad depending on the situation or just as a prayer.

There are many heartwarming songs in this category but unfortunately, many songs do not have permission to be embedded in this blog. So do go on the YouTube link posted and enjoy the song. The lyrics are beautifully written, packed with emotion and are self-explanatory.

Every nook and corner of the street would have 'matki fod' celebrations where a bunch of people would gather together to form a pyramid. They'd them aim at breaking the 'matki' that's hung on a higher level and has ''dahi' aka curd in it. Considering how much Krishna loved maakhan, his mother Yashodha maiya lovingly called him maakhan chor. While its difficult to keep butter in the 'matki', people usually prefer keeping curd in it. Whoever reaches the top of the pyramid, breaks the matki with a coconut, encouraged and applauded with a loud cheer from crowds.

We've seen a similar tradition being followed in Bollywood songs that perfectly describe the feel of Dahi Handi celebrations. As the festival approaches, we list down some of our favourite Bollywood songs that you can add to your playlist this Janmashtami.

Radha holds an important place in Hindu mythological history for the simple fact that she was Krishna's lover. She had his heart and Krishna had hers. A dynamic dancer that she is, Sonakshi Sinha aced Radha Nachegi from Tevar just so gracefully that she left everyone in awe of her moves. Tevar didn't do seemingly well at the box office, but this particular number from the movie starring Sonakshi is still one of the 'most- played' songs during Janmashtami celebrations every year.

The celebration of Janmashtami in a school or any event would be incomplete without a performance on maiyya yashodha and woh kisna hain. These songs created over the years, have reminded the people of the many aspects of the life of lord Krishna. From his days of childhood filled with naughtiness to the love he shared with Radha, Bollywood has done a great job of incorporating lord Krishna into their songs. The Bollywood music have become a staple in many Indian homes and analyzing them creates a path into the life of lord Krishna.
