Hi folks ,
It is time for the (un)timely update from the efarmers …For long people had put up with rather dry text emails, so thought we would add a touch of colour from now on .. Very soon would also be moving out of google groups to our own ‘phpList’ based server. Let us know your thoughts…

IT-Geeks, Project
Managers, Investment bankers , Fresh graduates– going by the
profile of the
people who are increasingly attending our weekend workshops is a
proof of the ‘cycle
of life’ . We are noticing an increasing number of professionals
and fresh graduates
from engineering and MBA streams taking a keen interests in agri
careers and related
business ventures . As lot of them had never been to a village or
a farm, based
on feedback, we started doing a field trip to organic farms and
Koyambedu
market to give a ‘grounds-eye’ view of the industry . We are happy
to see and
mentor a lot of them who have started interesting ventures now
Venkat and srivalli
gave a talk at CII MSME Conclave at Chennai on the efarmDirect
platform on how
the SAAS based model of ‘pay as you go’ has enabled farmers to
reach markets
more efficiently. The presentation slides are available in
slideshare at : http://www.slideshare.net/themylaporelad/using-it-to-solve-agri-crisis-efarmdirect-experience
We would like to thank Ashwin of ContractIQ for inviting us for the panel.
Since we started doing the monthly training sessions for agri entrepreneurs since 2011 , we have been getting increasing number of requests from people and organisations from other cities. Our participants too have been travelling down from far north and even from Singapore !
Our next training session is being held exclusively for ‘Hand-In’Hand’ , a leading NGO based out of Kancheepuram for their field staff working for organic farmers across TN. The November session will be held at Bangalore in partnership with Vijay Bhaskar and his ‘Kisan Raja’ team at their Whitefield office.
So, Chennaities – this weekend (29th/30th) may be the last chance for ‘home town’ advantage as we start ‘roaming free’ . Sign up NOW : www.efarm.in/training or call Vijaykanth at 917 607 2449

We firmly believe that
the answer to the
agri-crisis revolves around getting the youngsters interested in
farm based
careers and businesses. And key amongst those are graduates from
rural
backgrounds who understand the challenges in villages at same time
have the
educational edge to adapt modern approaches to solving the problem
. We were
invited by the management school of Adhiyaman college of Hosur and
were amazed
to see a jam packed hall full of eager students . the Q&A
sessions were
most intense as several amongst audience were farmer’s sons and
daughters – we hope
we impressed. The video of
the lecture
is at : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4r9dN92814&feature=share
Next stop – Kristu jayanthi college on Oct 6th at Bangalore .
Collaboration and
Co-Opetition is the key
to success for growing organisations . We are happy to associate
with Vijay
Bhaskar Dinnepu of ‘Kisan
Raja’ fame . His mobile based remote controller for pumps
has won several
prestigious awards . We would be tieing up for joint promotions
and
distribution. Also he has offered his office space for
conducting our next
session in Bangalore.
Dataweave is a young startup focussed on taming the huge data sets in public domain and providing simple interfaces to draw meaningful insights, visulations etc., We are doing a pilot with them to make our efarmdirect data more richer and create comparative sets with mandi pricedata.
‘Big Blue’ ,one of the oldest and best known IT giant is doing a smart village platform for farmers. We are in discussions to collaborate at various levels – collaborating with their various market linkage initiatives , sharing farmer data and getting efarmdirect from the ‘ground’ to the ’cloud’. Still hush hush – watch this space for more action….
We are happy to see lot of young new farmers and entrepreneurs coming up and also connecting through the eFarmDirect portal . We also have a facebook group for connecting with the growing web of efarmers. Join in @ http://www.facebook.com/groups/efarmdirect/
The ‘Dummies Guide to becoming a Successful farmer’ got a lot of reviews from readers – Part II is ‘germinating’.. await the harvest soon ….
Keep Greening …..
