Hi,
We launched our latest baby 'efarmdirect' at the Bangalore krishi mela last week. It was an awesome experience to see over 8 lakh farmers in one massive colourful mela - music, dance and lots of interactions with a cross section of growers from across India . We also won the best stall award amongst 1200 stalls in the event ! Dr. Narayana Gowda, Honourable Vice Chancellor of Univ. Of Agri Sciences, while inagurating the portal, expressed that agri marketing is need of the hour and commended the young team of eFarm in having achieved this eventhough none of us have formal Agriculture background !
We would like to thank the 100s of volunteers from across India , several people we only knew htrough online, who supported us from everything from transalating our forms to various langauges, data uploading, design work and bringing narial paani for our parched throats at the stall. Our booths were swamped from farmers , to bankers, to students to little kids who loved singing karoke songs in the microphone/amp at the booth ..
The efarmdirect portal is first of its kind where farmers detail produce data would be available online , and giving them a much larger choice of buyers and also enable them to set their own price . It also makes backward integration and supply side planning lot more easier for buyers of farm produce . Simply put, It is a cross between justdial and shaadi.com , where farmers and buyers can transaparently get information and enable trade in a fair manner. It is currently in beta and for restricted use, but would soon be open to public view by this month end.
