Hello All

As you all go through papers to choose a project, follow the guidelines specified below in order to make a good choice.
  1. Some useful keywords while looking for papers are: IEEE 802.11 MAC, CSMA/CA, RTS-CTS, Enhanced throughput for 802.11 MAC, AODV, DSDV, DSR, OLSR, Routing protocols comparison, Energy efficiency
  2. There are two ways of going about this project: A) Easy: Do a comparison of protocols (specific to a single layer); B) Difficult (Relatively): Pick a single protocol and modify (working across the network stack: More often than not between the MAC, Network and Transport)
  3. Choose papers that are recent. For example, while searching for papers, filter out papers older than those published before 2009.
  4. It is not necessary to find papers that have used NS 3 for their work. In fact, it is quite likely you would find papers using ns2 more than NS 3.
  5. Finally, once you choose your paper, do run it by either Obul or me in order to make sure that the project is doable in NS3.
Do let me know if you have any further queries.

Thanks and regards,
Gokul S Bhat

Just a note: DSR protocol in NS 3 has not been integrated to the source code yet. Also, avoid papers on sensor networks as the entire module on sensors is absent for now in NS 3, unless the sensor network can be modeled by a wireless network (by using the same MAC and Routing protocols).

Hello All

I have shared the EEL 6591-Project folder with you that will have essential resources that will help you during the course of the project. Also, in the document "EEL 6591-Project groups", please enter your chosen project and associated details as specified which will eventually help us organize and identify any similarities in the projects that have been chosen. This way no one will repeat a paper as everyone know what others are doing in their project.

Hi: mr Gokul
I will use the performance of 802.11 MAC protocol for mobile wireless sensor network. Is this ok?
     attached is my paper
