Oracle has launched an exciting Internet of Things (IoT) Developer Challenge globally,to maintain and grow mindshare by demonstrating how Java Embedded can be used and extended to develop connected applications using computer boards, devices or other IoT technologies.

This challenge rewards developers who create applications using Java Embedded with devices, boards and other IoT technologies. More details on this exclusive challenge, please ref. https://www.java.net/challenge

Prize- JavaOne 2014, San Francisco, Pass for a value of $2,050 USD, and the reimbursement of a flight to San Francisco and a hotel room during JavaOne 2014 SFO with a value of up to $2,000 USD per person. Total value USD 4,050 per person in the team. Note that only food and other expenses are to be borne by winners, per the terms of the contest.

Three (3) professional teams and three (3) student teams may win prizes during the challenge. Up to three (3) members of a winning team will each receive a prize. The total number of winners will be up to eighteen (18) people, up to nine (9) in professional category and up to nine (9) in student category.

Objective:

  • Inspire developers to learn Java Embedded and expand their development skills to embedded systems and IoT
  • Online challenge to reach developers worldwide
  • Highlight Java experts and innovators in IoT space
  • Keep the momentum of past challenge successes at JavaOne, Devoxx, Jcertif, TDC and more

How to Win:  Create a well-implemented, innovative and useful application using Java Embedded with devices, boards or other IoT technologies.

Eligibility: This Challenge is open to individuals or organizations. Each entry must be submitted by one entrant ("Entry Spokesperson") who is 18 years or older as of the time of entry, who will submit the entry on behalf of him/herself or his/her team of up to three people (Entry Spokesperson and his/her team are collectively referred to herein as "Entrant"). Open for Students & corporate developers

Challenge period
- Ends on May 30th, 2014

IMP-
Employees or officials of any government entity, including public higher education institutions are not eligible to participate or Win. Also Oracle employees and relatives are not eligible


OTN will also provide free web training and attendees will get free Raspberry Pi Starter Pack!
