Hello All,

Please see the announcement below about the development of a framework to address environmental literacy.

Our Environmental Literacy Plan is moving along.  We’ve held five listening sessions across the state (Sioux Falls, Spearfish, Rapid, Pierre, Huron and Mission).  The first draft of an environmental literacy plan will be out later this summer or perhaps early fall and will be available for comment.

Anne

I’m happy to announce that all documents including the complete online edition of Developing a Framework for Assessing Environmental Literacy with references are now posted at www.naaee.net/framework.

Since our December 1 release of the Framework, we have been heartened to learn from colleagues of the ways they are using and building on this work:

  • In Taiwan, as they create a national survey of Environmental Literacy
  • In California, as a touchstone for reviewing California’s Environment and Education Initiative (EEI)
  • At TERC, to help conceptualize a transformational approach to STEM and economics education
  • At the OECD, as Pearson and an international Environmental Literacy Expert Group develop a detailed proposal for review by the PISA Governing Board

I hope you will also find it useful as you pursue your efforts to enhance environmental literacy. Thanks for your interest in NAAEE and our work.

Happy Springtime!
