Hello captains,

I've been in touch with the folks from scheduling about the field being closed. Unfortunately, I didn't get a good answer from them about why the field was not unlocked this past Monday, just assurances that they'd do everything that they could to make sure it will be open next week. I was able to get a new phone number for someone who can grant us access after normal business hours, though I could not get in touch with that office through another number a few days ago.

Because I know many of you and your players are understandably frustrated—I am too—I'd like to propose the following. I will call the facilities staff next Monday afternoon to ensure that they know we are on their schedule and can confirm that it will be unlocked. I will report back to you all before 5:00pm. If I can't get a confirmation by then, I'll ask the two teams playing in the 7:00pm game (DOF and Tsar Bomba) whether or not they'd like to risk coming out at 7 without a confirmation. If either team says no, then we cancel that game. Either way, I'll be at the field and will report back to the rest of league about games later that evening based on whether the field does get unlocked at 7.

If the field does not get unlocked at all, then I think we may need to start considering other alternatives.

Thanks all for your patience with this,

Mitch

I think your plan sounds good Mitch. Thanks for doing what you can to get this cleared up

Mitch,

Just to make sure I understand, you are going to confirm at 5pm and then also at 7pm? SMS plays the two late games so I planning to email them at 7pm to confirm the field has actually been opened.

Yes, so tomorrow early afternoon I will be trying to get in touch with the folks at the stadium who are supposed to let us in to confirm that they'll be there. I'll let you all know once I get a confirmation, but in the event that I can't, I'll also get that to you by 5pm. If I haven't been able to get in touch with them by then, I will open it up to Ellis and Maria if they/their teams want to cancel the 6:50 game and not risk bringing their players out to the same locked-gate situation. If either captain says no, we'll reschedule and not count it as a forfeit or anything.

Then, regardless of confirmation status or their decision, I will be at the field at 6:50, and I'll let everyone in the two later games know whether the field is open. So everyone in those games should pay a bit of attention to emails.

Hope that helps,

-Mitch
