Hi Captains,

The season's winding down and there's lots to cover here, so please bear with me.

Playoffs:
The first few playoff games are set and up on the website. This upcoming Monday it's Tsar Bomba @ SMS, umped by DOF (following a regularly scheduled DOF @ Tsar Bomba game). If you could, please remind your teams that those games are scheduled 30 mins later (starting at 7:20 and 8:20). Also, please remember that during the playoffs all players must have played at least once during the regular season. No subs from other league teams are permitted.

Dues:
Now that we've finished most of the regular season, I feel comfortable estimating dues based on the field reservation costs. It looks like it will come to a total of $1020 for the reservation plus gear. Since we had some cancellations early on that were not rescheduled (IHT, ISchoolU, and DOF played 14 games while SMS and Tsar Bomba played 15) I propose the following dues arrangement. It is weighted by games played:
  • IHT, iSchoolU, DOF: $200
  • Tsar Bomba, SMS: $210
If you can get those to me as a check that is ideal, but otherwise we can work something else out.

League Administration
It is that time of year where we need to renew our status as an RSO. To be compliant, our league needs to have a total of 4 declared signatories and then 2 of those signatories need to attend a signatory orientation, among other things. If you're willing to be a signatory (or were a signatory and are willing to continue), please let me know and I'll get you the information. It's a really simple position, it just involves filling out a form acknowledging that you understand the RSO guidelines. I'd like to make sure we have 4 signatories as soon as possible so that we'll have no problems as we start to schedule games for the fall. And that brings us to...

Captains Meeting
Fall season comes up quick, and we usually get going around the 2nd/3rd week of September (ideally 9/16 or 9/23) this year. I'd like to have a captains meeting fairly soon after summer season ends on 8/19 to get your feedback on how things went with the new field, to discuss some rule clarifications that have come up over the course of this season, and to discuss recruiting efforts. I think at least a few of our teams are aging up, and it would be in our best interest to work to recruiting at least one more team. GradFest is on 8/27 (3:30-5pm) and we've applied to have a table there, but that has traditionally just helped recruit solo players rather than full teams. If you could, please fill out this when2meet so that we can schedule that before we get too close to the start of the fall season.

Thanks for all your help and patience this summer, and best of luck to you and your teams in the playoffs!

-Mitch

I’m still out of town this Monday and didn’t realize that DOF would be umping the first playoff game. I will ask my teammates if anyone can ump but I’m really having trouble getting people to step up. I’m willing to trade umping responsibilities with any other team. Or since DOF has already umped 7 games and is scheduled to ump 2 more, can iSchoolU, which has only umped 6, ump the Monday night game? That seems more fair to me, also considering that DOF has played fewer games.

I’m not going to be captain for DOF in the fall, Will may be, but otherwise DOF will need a new captain or need to be scattered throughout the league.

I’m backpacking/road tripping through Tuesday, but I can get you a check after that. My reception/internet will be spotty while I’m away.

Is the ump situation resolved for this game? I would do it but unfortunately I am playing in the game.
