The UC Berkeley Energy Symposium is accepting submissions for this year’s poster session!
WHAT: The UCB Energy Symposium poster session provides exposure for our community’s latest energy and resources breakthroughs, including science, technology, policy, non-profits, field projects, start-up companies, and anything else energy and resources related. Last year’s session was a huge success, featuring 40 posters presented to an audience of 700 conference attendees.
WHEN: In response to the popularity of last year’s poster session, we are expanding this year’s format to 2 events:
· Wednesday March 3rd, 7:00pm-9:30pm, “Innovation Expo” featuring 80 posters, 300 expected attendees
· Thursday March 4th, 8:00am-6:00pm, top 35 posters from Wednesday’s event will be invited to present all day during this year’s conference, 700 expected attendees
WHO:
· Anyone affiliated to UC Berkeley, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, or other educational or research institutions conducting work related to energy and resources
· Local Start-Ups
WHY:
· PRIZE MONEY! $1000 for first place, $500 for second place
· All participants will receive free admission to the conference and a free lunch
· We are expecting 20 “campus elites” and 40 industry leaders and sponsors at a VIP event held immediately before Wednesday’s Innovation Expo. The VIPs will join the Expo and some will serve as first round judges.
· Exposure to 250 industry professionals. Last year’s attendees included representatives from over 20 Venture Capital firms such as Rockport Capital and Nth Power, several Fortune 500 companies such as Oracle and Pacific Gas & Electric, and several technology law firms such as Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati
· Exposure to 250 UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab faculty and staff. Last year’s attendees included representatives from the College of Engineering, Plant and Microbial Biology Department, Department of Physics, Haas School of Business, Energy Biosciences Institute, Joint BioEnergy Institute, UC Energy Institute, Berkeley Institute of the Environment, California Institute for Energy and the Environment, and LBNL’s Environmental Energy Technologies Division
HOW: If you would like your project or company to be considered for a poster session spot at this year’s symposium, please submit an abstract including (a) your name, (b) project/company title and (c) 150-word description by Monday, February 8th to: ucbposters...@gmail.com. Selected posters will be announced on Monday, February 15th.
