1000s separators

Can I change how Daviz handles the thousands separators?  I need commas but Daviz changes them to periods.  Thanks!

Hi Eric,

I don't think just changing it (to your needs) is the best approach. Best implementation will be to make this separator customizable via UI to be set as you wish. If you need guidance for the implementation just let me know.

I have some transit ridership data tables I want to make charts out of.  If I upload the data as numbers with commas as the thousands separator (the American standard), the commas are converted to decimal points (the European standard).  In order to make it work I need to upload either two tables with both number and text columns representing the data set or create two separate tables, one text to include the comma and one number to create the chart.  

This is what I want (I can upload these data as text with the comma but then I cannot create a chart)

This is what I get when I upload data in number format with commas

January 70.573 80.056 89.815 93.276

Does that make sense?

I'll dig into it, meanwhile as a quick fix, can't you just find and replace comma with nothing before uploading the file? :)

Well that is what I have been doing. However, for displaying the data in the table I need the commas.

I believe you could try applying some frontend transformation Javascript after the page is delivered by Plone/DaViz. See:

Your request is being handled under http://taskman.eionet.europa.eu/issues/9583. In theory this will be released in a week or so if you need it really urgent you can try get the package from sources etc etc.
