Background - I have raced cars (road racing SCCA type) for a fair time.
I currently have in my +/- 1,000 pound race car an engine based on a 1.6 L
diesel block,
Head is marked with VW/Audi stamps "21" "WWO 1.6"
"049.103.373B" "583780" - been lead to believe that confirms it comes from a
rabbit 1.6 for fuel injection, but those holes plugged and I use two Webber
DCOE 40s. Appears it altered to use 1.8 valves.
Cam is labeled "WEB" "9- 06" "125" ---- and I've been told that is a fairly
commonly available make model.
It uses a dry sump oil system. I just need to learn more as problems and
choices come up. Frankly I was FAR over my head when piston 'lightly' hit
and bent valve. Was far from home at a race and bought a used head, changed
all over and at least limped through 30 minute race for a finish.
