Using Robomongo to access edxapp MongoDB

Hi, I am trying to use Robomongo to access MongoDB as installed on the EDX platform. I can SSH into the server to localhost:27017 but cannot access the DBs. While SSH-ing into the server with a terminal I see no authorization needed to access the databases. Yet I am failing to be authorized as a MongoDB user, even using the default username and password. Has anyone had experience using a MongoDB client to access the EDX MongoDBs? Thanks for any recommendations.
