Extending the registration form

Hi,

I noticed the user has the ability to include a profile image ("profile_image") as well as share accomplishments ("accomplishments_shared") e.t.c. 

From this a json can easily be generated via the api http://www.domain.com/api/user/v1/accounts/user1

which produces this

How can I extend the initial registration form ( login_and_register.html) to enable and ensure new users fill in some or all of these fields at the start?
