Can't sign in with my Google account (but registering with Google is ok)

Hi,

I don't know if it's the right group to post my problem, don't hesitate to tell me where i can do that if it's not the right place.

I'm trying to enable the Google connection for my Open edX instance since few days and i've a problem when i try to reconnect with my google account :

- I can register with the Google OAuth2 api. The Open edX account created is linked with Google.

- I activate this account.

- When i logout and try to reconnect with the same Google Account, i've this message :

You've successfully logged into your Google account, but this account isn't linked with an Your Platform Name Here account yet.

Use your Your Platform Name Here username and password to log into Your Platform Name Here below, and then link your Your Platform Name Here account with Google from your dashboard.

If you don't have an Your Platform Name Here account yet, click Register Now at the top of the page.

My test environment :

- Release Aspen & Birch (both tested)

- Ubuntu 12.04

- Production mode

Am i missing something?

Are you absolutely certain the created account is linked with Google? When you create an account after going through the Google auth flow, your Google account is _not_ automatically linked with that account. You must explicitly link the Google account from the dashboard page after completing the registration. IIRC, this was done to avoid a situation wherein someone on a public computer gets as far as the registration page, then bails on registration, then has someone else complete the registration process, linking that second person's new edX account with the first person's Google account.

I missed the 'link' concept... So when i 'link' my account to Google from my dashboard page, i can reconnect with my Google Account, thanks :)

Is it possible to disable this 'link' feature?

There is no way at this time to change this behavior without making code changes.

Hi Greg,

Looks like I forgot to link my Google account to my edX account, and now I can't seem to login to my edX dashboard to link the accounts. I've already completed two weeks of a course.

"You've successfully signed into Google, but your Google account isn't linked with an edX account. To link your accounts, go to your edX account settings."

Is there anyway to link the accounts if you can't get to the edX dashboard?

Assuming you provided an email address when you created your account, you can use the password reset functionality to get a new password to log into the site with.
