Dear All,

I was wondering if it is feasible to have something like a language switcher on the home page of EDX for changing the language (e.g. flags in a dropdown).

I know that languages can change from settings after logging in, but I was wondering if I could change the language even before logging in.

Thank you in advance,

Kostas.

Hi Kostas,

Yep, there's a language drop-down, which you can configure in the Django Admin.  There's some instructions here:

For example:

Hi Kostas,
Language selection UI (dropdown list) for users is in the footer, below the edX logo. It appears before login as well.

Dear All,

thank you for your advice and especially Jill and Jeff.

It finally worked for me and my 2 languages (Greek and English) now appear in the dropdown at home page and the translation mechanism works like a charm.

One question though.

After I log in, the mechanism does not seem to work. It only displays Greek even if I click on English at the dropdown (which worked fine before logging in).

When I select English, the page refreshes and returns to Greek with Greek selected as the dropdown option (which is odd).

Do I need to do something extra in order for the mechanism to work after logging in as well?

Best Regards,

Kostas.
