Landmarks in Humanities PDF
Description "Landmarks in Humanities: A Single Volume Review of Global Cultures, History, and The Arts" by Fiero is an engaging, lively, sometimes funny, occasionally serious look at how our past's influence our present times. In a nutshell, Landmarks in Humanities attempts to cast a wide net and bring together scholars from many disciplines who appreciate the significance of human landscapes. It is essentially an encyclopaedia of the landscape and environment as it affects various cultures around the world. In a nutshell, Landmarks in Humanities attempts to provide a comprehensive introduction to the topic, with a detailed bibliography and index. It also includes a discussion of three key themes, namely, human geography, historic land mapping, and environmental art.
These are just some of the topics covered in Landmarks in Humanities by Fiero. I found the book to be interesting and would definitely recommend it to colleagues or students studying Art History, not only because of its engaging style but also because of its wide range of topics. I particularly enjoyed Fiero's discussions of iconic paintings, Architectural Landmarks, and cultural landscapes. Also liked was his broad brush with the various genres of art, especially when comparing artists in the early and late twentieth century.
The editors do an excellent job of describing Landmarks in Humanities with an easy to read, oft-illustrated style. And they offer an abundance of photographs, often accompanied by well-illustrated text, to illustrate important landscape features. Landmarks in Humanities also contains useful appendices that include a timeline and an index. This makes it easier for students to navigate, but there is also a helpful glossary of artistic terms at the end.
