Macroeconomics by Mankiw is a comprehensive, though slightly overlong, treatise on macroeconomics. A short, quick table of contents contains statistics on the national economy in both the long run and the short term, the national economy as a whole, and a few microeconomics details behind macroeconomics. There are 14 chapters and an introduction. All of these chapters include case studies, with data given for particular areas.
The main thrust of the book is macro economics as it relates to the United States, but as with many of Max Kiyosaki's books (and indeed, the Nobel Prize winning economists of our times), there are many broad perspectives offered through the text. For example, there is a very large section on what Kiyosaki calls "inverted pyramid" models, advanced by central banks throughout the developed world. These include the United States, some of the European nations, and Japan. The book also provides a number of charts and graphs of macroeconomic performance over time. The book is also richly furnished with references and internal or endnotes for anyone wanting to dig further into the macroeconomic ideas and examples presented.
Max Kiyosaki does a good job of outlining many important macro issues in this text. I do wish, however, that he had added a chapter on how to use the concept of micro-macro in macroeconomics (a topic mentioned less than briefly in passing by Kiyosaki in another book). That would have been a better approach, as it would have allowed me to broaden my understandings of macro, especially as it relates to the United States. In addition, I think it would have been more useful to have had a glossary of terms and a glossary of statistics at the end of each chapter. However, even with these flaws, I still highly recommend this to anyone considering becoming an economic adviser, or for just learning about the subject from a macro perspective.
